  5. Not to crush your dreams, but you are in a horrible place to try and compete with photographers. Utah (especially utah county) has more photographers than gas stations.

Your lighting sucks. Never take a portrait in a shadow. When all of your photos have big ugly shadows under the eyes, and messed up lighting, i doubt you will ever get to the point of charging someone for a photo shoot. You can't just go out and buy a low grade digital slr camera from costco or walmart and expect to be a "photographer". Not only that, what exactly are your "touching up" abilities? You can't expect to do a half decent job with some cheap photoshop elements program. Do you have adobe lightroom? Do you have cs4? Do you have a screen calibrator? Do you have a profile manager for the photo lab you use? Do you even know what any of those are? Do you have a website? I'm not talking about a blog either. That comes only second to a decent website. You are looking at 5 to 10 grand for a good flash website (not some trashy template).

I don't post these things to be rude, but I strongly suggest you re-think your future plans, because from the looks of it, photography is more of a hobby for you, and you aren't even half decent at that. You will most likely waste a whole lot of time and maybe some money to find out its a lot harder than you think to be a succesful photographer.

I suggest you do some research on photography. Maybe subscribe to a photgraphy magazine to start learning about it. At least do that before you offer yourself to the world for free and they all find out you suck. That will kill your reputation fast.

    Good luck

  6. Wow, that guy is harsh! I think you have some good posing ideas. I agree that you should take a photography class or seminar to get the basics of lighting. Maybe do some research on the web. Great idea to offer free sessions to get good experience. Experience is a great teacher.

  7. In response to the person whoi wrote on 8/8/09...You are rude. Never once did this girl say she was the best or even experienced. She put her self out there to get some knowledge, and learn from others. There is absolutely NO reason for anyone to freak out like that. I have found that anyone who puts others on blast like that are insecure or just plain brought up with no manners. I think for the level she is, free is a good choice. She is just following a dream, who the hell are they to put her down?
